THE COW JUMPED OVER THE MOON

All the corn plants were to be shredded and put into the tower as silage.  The crop was large, so ten-year-old Billy’s job was to tromp it down, so it all fit.

He brought one of their cows in through the little bottom door to help him.  For several boring hours, he and Bossy had plodded ‘round and ‘round.

Finally the level neared the top, and his Dad yelled that they were done.  “Just back out that little hatch, and climb down the ladder.”

MOOO!

“A cow??  You took a cow in there??!  How is she going to climb down??!”

Go to Rochelle’s Addicted to Purple site and use her Wednesday photo as a prompt to write a complete 100 word story.

      Why don’t blind people skydive??
D’yever hear a German Shepherd scream at 10,000 feet?? 😯
That’s nothin’ compared to a cow, at 50 feet.
Bring the tractor; we’ll try para-sailin’ her.
Nah! Carrying a barbecue up, is easier than getting her down. Nom, nom! 😀

They’re going to need to bring in the heavy equipment – poor Bessy needs to get out of there. Very funny.

Hehe, solving that problem will give them stories to tell for years. Poor Bessy, fun story.

And if they get paid as much for their stories as I do for mine….
As long as the tales center on the poor cow. I’d hate to hear, “This here’s Billy. He’s 26, and still goin’ to school – on the short bus!” 😳

I read a list just yesterday of Facts? – Or Urban Legends?, including,
      A duck’s quack doesn’t echo, and no-one knows why. – and
You can lead a cow up a flight of stairs…but not down.
Whatever the solution is, it will be complex and expensive, but not a stairway.
It was good for a chuckle….and a Flash Fiction. 🙂

  7. And it seemed like such a great idea at the time… 🙂 Great story! My story involves a cow, too. Go figure…

What a cute story! Poor Bossy, though. Not a good ending for him 😦

I think Bossy would have an easier time eating her way back down than I would climbing down a ladder that high! Fun story; you perfectly captured the kid not thinking things through.

Very funny! But had he never heard that old saying, don’t take a cow with you when you tromp the silage?

No, but he’d heard that you can lead a horse to water, but if you can get him to roll over and float on his back, you’re a winner on America’s Got Talent! 😉 😕

My maternal grandfather and the boys liked to whoop it up on Halloween — they were all tricks. Knocking over outhouses (I hope empty ones) and several times getting cows on roofs of buildings — or so the legend goes.
Unfortunately, the secret of getting the cow off the roof died with him.
