Flash Fiction #79

Snoopy

Here’s the World War I ace on his way to the aerodrome for dawn patrol. Ah, the lads have his Sopwith Camel ready to go.  It will be a cold flight, so first we taxi through the drive-thru at Drunken Donuts for a hot cocoa, then it’s into the air, to search for the Red Baron.

The day is crisp and clear. Flying is great.  Be sure to check above and behind so that the Red Baron doesn’t sneak out of the rising sun….

Flashing lights???!

Why no, Officer, I was paying attention to traffic. How fast was I going?

me and the wife (she hates it when I say that) just watched The Peanuts Movie. It is amazing that with our 21 year age difference we find one kids show that we both watched. Great reference to the red baron.

Cute! This brought back some memories.
My mum lives in the UK in a town where there used to be an American base. My son still has a huge stock of Peanuts books bought at the second-hand bookstore after somebody heading home to the US sold off their entire collection.

Peanuts seems so universal that I forgot how it might (not) be viewed outside North America. Last night I read of a Manchester man who purchased some ‘tyres’. They don’t exist in Canada or the US. 😦

I’ll take your word for it. I’ve never had their coffee – or cocoa. I bought one doughnut in Charleston. I’m told that Tim Horton’s is better. Coming soon to a neighborhood in NOVA near you. 😛

This is the perfect Snoopy story. I think Peanuts are very well known everywhere. I’m German, and Peanuts were a favourite with me and my friends when we were young–and are still now.

  6. Dear Archon,

I hear the Royal Guardsmen singing in the background as I read. 😉 A story that both Snoopy and Walter Mitty would enjoy. I enjoyed it, too.

    Shalom,

Again, I am pleased. Just another little cautionary tale. It’s great to have a dream – just pay attention to your driving. You don’t want to have to explain it to the coroner. 😯 😀

Someone else sneaked out of the rising sun, it seems. Fun story.
