….and that’s Ted. For some unknown reason, he’s the boss’s favorite.
Scott Adams really makes the Dilbert cartoon seem like authentic office life, but Ted makes Wally appear organized and productive. He’s a nice enough guy, but don’t ever count on him for anything, no matter what he promises.
Nobody’s ever seen him actually finish a project, and a four-person work team, with him, is really three-person. His forte is coffee breaks….loonng ones. Ah, this is your desk. Welcome to our happy company. If you have any questions or problems, Tina will help you, or just ask anyone – except Ted.

Reminds me of the gals in Nine to Five making out the boss is still around (when they’ve hauled him up on a chain). I have worked with a few Teds. Never there but never goes away. Great post and I love that poem.

My Mother recited that bit of doggerel to me as a child, several times in the 1950s . I have no idea where it originally came from, but I find the references still valid. 🙂

Apparently it’s a Nova Scotia, Canadian poem, titled Antigonish, available on Wiki, here. It’s about a ghost who bides in a family’s home. 🙂

I have a son who works in an office that he fervently believes is the inspiration for Dilbert 🙂

The larger the office, the more chance that it might have a Wally, or other denizen of a Dilbert strip. ‘They’ say that one in three office workers are crazy. Look at the ones on either side of you. If they’re okay.… it’s YOU 😉

I think they issue at least one ‘Ted’, from a giant warehouse of them, every time an office is constructed. I’m glad you like the cartoon and poem. 🙂 They are just seasoning, in case the FF is a bit bland.

I’m happy that you liked them. I read two newspapers a day, and still read crossword clues about comic strips that I’ve never seen. Rochelle had never heard of Dr. Who, so I thought it wise to include an illustration. The little old poem just seemed to bubble to the surface, and appeared to suit the story. 🙂
