OVER THERE
They both diligently saved from their wages, determined to see at least a little bit of the world, before they settled down to careers, marriage and family.
London was fantastic, and they did all the touristy things. Being nerds, they located a Harry Potter store, bought wands, and enjoyed butter beer. They couldn’t find a platform #9-3/4, but they booked a tour on this old steam train, like the Hogwarts Special. The views of the countryside, the quaint little railway stations, and even a castle on a hill, were delightful.
Happy, but resigned, they returned to face the workaday world.

Go to Rochelle’s Addicted to Purple site and use her Wednesday photo as a prompt to write a complete 100 word story.
On a personal note, this is my 1100th published post since Nov. 2011. Also, if you note, it’s FF #197. If all goes well, in a couple of weeks, I’ll reach another milestone of 200. 😀
That is the problem with holidays – you have to return to the real world!

Is the glass half full – or half empty? Going back to work can be a downer, but you have all those lovely memories…. that you can bore your co-workers with. 😛

Dear Archon,
There’s always that pesky ‘real world’ isn’t there?

I have a wry smile for one of the music videos that the wife watches. There’s a 20ish young man who wants to sleep till noon, then hang out with his pals, and ‘garage band’ up in his room. He complains that his parents yell, “Get up! You gotta make money.”
Money isn’t everything…. but it’s way ahead of whatever’s in second place.
Money can’t buy happiness…. but it makes looking for it a whole lot easier. 🙄

Smart of them to go out and do at least one thing before real life came in and interfered!

That story was loosely based on the grandson, and his soon-to-be wife. There’s two schools of thought. The wife and I married (relatively) young, and waited to do our traveling until the kids were out of the house, and we had enough savings, and strength left, to afford to. 😀

It can work both ways… though there are no guarantees on living to ripe old and healthy age 😉

I got married at 23. The kids were graduated by when I was 45. Still lots of strength and good living time after that. 😀

Would that we could live in the “holiday” world… reality gets in the way, too much. Great story!

A day trip away is just the tonic, fresh air, the countryside, and steam.

What a good way to start their life together. Then they can do it again when they’re older. Congratulations on your blogging and FriFic milestones – great achievements.

Thank you so much! I see so many blog-sites fall by the wayside, as life interferes. Many of the FFers have been around for years. 🙂
As for the kids – we all hope that the next generation does a bit better than we did. 😎

Sounds like a pleasant vacation together and hoping there will be opportunity along the way for others also.

It was a great trip for the pair I based this story on. They both have solid jobs now. Any further trips will be limited to North America. 🙂

Beer butter is a curious sounding drink! I think that’s a good way to spend your youth before settling down.

Butter beer was just an author’s fantasy, which has been turned into successful reality. https://www.bing.com/search?q=butterbeer+recipe+easy&form=EDNTHT&mkt=en-ca&httpsmsn=1&plvar=0&refig=b90d2ae2442f468caeea03ba4d42cf7d&PC=ACTS&sp=1&qs=HS&sk=PRES1&sc=8-0&cvid=b90d2ae2442f468caeea03ba4d42cf7d&cc=CA&setlang=en-US
