High Drama – Low Comedy

Okay! Move along, move along! Nothin’ to see here. Just another Canadian political rant.

I got another Op-Ed letter published. I shouldn’t phrase it like that. I get almost all my submitted letters published. With print newspapers dying, and readers going to social media, the papers are grateful for any Op-Ed letters. It used to be a contest, and the local paper published 4 -6 letters every day. Now, there’s only 2 letters per issue, and often none.

Still…. I had this to say about our pretty, young (and pretty young) Prime Minister.

Many people, probably Liberal party supporters, want to excuse Justin Trudeau’s Blackface incident, saying that he did not mean to insult anyone. This is true, because Trudeau is far too narcissistic to care about insulting other races.

If it were an isolated incident, performed by an adolescent, it might be understandable, but it’s only one in a string of bad social choices – a blackface, two brownfaces, and his Mr. Dressup tour of India.

At 29, well beyond adolescence, he attended a black-tie society dinner. 500 guests, 249 men dressed in tuxedos, and Ali Baba Justin showed up – poorly.

We don’t need a drama student, or teacher. We need a mature statesman to lead the country, not an entitled rich kid, leading a high school musical!

This is our Prime Minister, Canada. Ain’tcha glad??! This makes Trump look good. Remember this on our upcoming Election Day.

  1. Agreed but look at the alternative. Andrew Scheer makes this Canadian shudder, Singh for all his patience, good intentions and dapper dress will never form so much as official opposition. Sigh. I live in Vancouver Granville, my vote goes to Jody Wilson-Raybould for all the difference that makes.

Scheer kinda creeps me too, but I would take him over Trudeau II. and Conservative policies over Liberal deficits, any day. I can only hope, if he becomes our next Prime Minister, that he has a backroom full of capable handlers – unlike runaway train wreck Trump. 😯

While I understand your distaste, nothing… I repeat nothing!… makes Trump look good.

Sorry ’bout that. I got carried away with the rhetoric. It’s like ‘Orange Is The New Black’ – political insanity is the new norm. Like you Americans, our supplier lives south of the border. GOooo Trump!…. and don’t come back. And take bird-brain Robin with you. 😛

Glad to know that writers still have access to print media.

It’s a dying breed, soon to go extinct, I fear. Our local paper used to be four sections, each 12/16 pages Monday to Friday, and 6 sections including color comics, on Saturday.
Now, the weekday versions are only 2 sections, and 8/10 pages. Saturday is 4 sections. They are almost begging for opinion letters. 4 or 5 per day has become only 2, and many days, none at all. Fortunately the comics section is as robust as ever. Thank Zarathustra! We need all the amusement we can get, to take our minds off world news, and it’s the only reliable social commentary that I can find. 🙂

29 seems pretty youthful to me. When I was a junior officer, about 25, our submarine squadron held an officers’ halloween costume party. Our wardroom dressed as vampires and 6 of us carried our C.O. into the celebration in a coffin. I know it’s true, I’ve got pictures. Gulp. Ah, youth.

There’s a time and place for everything, and Trudeau doesn’t seem to know that. Your silly but private party was okay. but a 10-year-old kid would know that a black-tie affair is serious. I don’t even know if he brought his wife to this gala, but he brought a retinue. He had two harem girls – a photo I couldn’t seem to find when I needed it – and the two harem guards in this shot. This boy should be on the stage. There’s one leaving at noon. 😆
