Continuing from last week’s Flash Fiction, I give you
A TEACHABLE MOMENT
The refrigerator is empty?? You two boys are going to have to pull up your socks. Guys are allowed to grocery shop. It’s in the Constitution. I gave you cash, a shopping list, and instructions to stop at the store after school.
We are not going to use the ‘Skip The Dishes’ app, and order burritos delivered, because we don’t have a Skip The Mortgage Payment option. If you felt that playing World of Warcraft was more important than getting meat and fresh veggies – we’ll make do.
Which would you prefer – olives on rye sandwiches, or cream of peach soup? 😳

Go to Rochelle’s Addicted to Purple site and use her Wednesday photo as a prompt to write a complete 100 word story.
Have you been spying on me again?
Mind you, my boys are at the age where I no longer give them the money. If they want to cook and feel there is “nothing in the fridge” then they can bloody well go shopping on their own!

I could peer in the windows of every house with teenage boys, and see this. As you see, they eventually grow up (a bit). Mine is 48, and stops at a supermarket on his way home at 8:00 AM, to pick up a copy of the Toronto Sun, before they all get sold out.
There are a lot of time-sensitive specials at that time of morning. He has learned to shop for himself, and also for the house. 😀

I’ve no more teenagers (but just became so very recently).
Neither shops for the house unless it is milk or eggs… I’m working on ’em

I’ll take the olives option, sounds quite tasty! That’ll teach them to do their chores.

I’m not sayin’ that people are crazy, but…. people are crazy!
A girl my niece went to school with brought buttered bread and – peeled and sliced oranges for sandwiches. Apple sandwiches, and radish – and those crazy Brits eat cucumber sandwiches, and watercress. That’s how Weinstein lured Randy Andy. 😳

Dear Archon,
Cream of peach soup? Intriguing. Perhaps the boys will learn to be more responsible in the future. 😉 And maybe cows will take wing, right?

I’m actually a fan of olive-on-rye sandwiches, so I’m a bit torn here on who I should support… 😉

If that doesn’t teach them, it will at least give them a trauma memory for adulthood 😉

If these hypothetical teen boys eat anything like I did as a real teen, they’ll gobble both these delicacies down, and not even notice.

Hahaha… this is great! This part’s my fave: “We are not going to use the ‘Skip The Dishes’ app, and order burritos delivered, because we don’t have a Skip The Mortgage Payment option.”

The son has that app, and occasionally orders burritos from a downtown shop which stays open till 2:30 AM, Saturdays and Sundays , waiting for nearby bars to close.
The wife and I have a little over a year left on our mortgage. When that’s paid off, I’ll buy you a burrito. 😆 🌯

I would try the peach soup. Olives, and coffee, are something that I’ve just never acquired a taste for. When she orders a pizza, the leftovers are safe from me, because I won’t even peel off the olives.
Thanx for the visit. Maybe we could do it again some time. 🙂
