Flash Fiction #45 – Redux

PHOTO PROMPT – © Jennifer Pendergast

Our den-mother is away on vacation, and I fear that my inspiration has accompanied her.  It goes out more often than my back.  I am taking advantage of her offer to repost a Flash Fiction from April, 2015, with some minor editing.

Title Yard Sale – Read the following short story, and then pick the title you feel best applies.  No extra charge.

SAME SEX MARRIAGE??!  Over my dead body – better still, over theirs.

Those filthy fags parading around – “I’ve got a job.  I pay taxes. I want the same civil rights as everybody else.”  They’re worse than the Niggers and Jews.  Niggers is just weak-minded jungle bunnies.  They don’t know no better.  The Jews might be Christ-killin’ heathens – but them perverts is sinners.

Civil rights??  I say cut their junk off and throw them all in jail.

Here we are at the church.  Take a look at the sign Bobby.  What’s Reverend Larkin’s sermon theme today?  “Love One Another.”  Ahhh – that’s nice.

And has it got any better in the last five years??  😕

Go to Rochelle’s Addicted to Purple site and use her Wednesday photo as a prompt to write a complete 100 word story

  1. Good one! I’ll pick the title – Dichotomy. LOL! _へ__(‾◡◝ )>

    Rednecks in Training.

Although that’s probably offensive to a lot of very nice rednecks.

I like Jeff Foxworthy’s definition of ‘redneck,’ a glorious lack of sophistication. But then, what label do we apply to these sad, angry, insecure, judgmental, ignorant, Bible-waving bigots??! 😳

I’m a “Bible -waver,” but I’m not a bigot. MY Bible never gives us permission to hate people, but love and forgive in the same way we are forgiven by God. Whole different perspective.

We need more like you, and far fewer like Mr. Hypothetical. If that were so, Atheists would have almost nothing to complain or argue about. 🙂

Strong and crunchy, this one. Another reason not to go out: those people (which ones? he asks). Good one. I don’t see the title I have in mind. 🙂

  4. Dear Archon, Sadly, not only has it not got better…well…need I say more. Den mother? I like that. 😉 I can think of a few titles. None of them are GP.

This one is really hard to respond to, because … it’s really hard to respond to. I also like “den mother” though! That’s adorable. I am trying to think of something to say to the story, when the answer I want to give would be … not polite or useful. At this time. Yeah, I can’t sorry. As a Christian, I apologize on behalf of fellow Christians who say things like this. Like, all the time. In general.

    I like Cognitive Dissonance.

I think it’s actually gotten worse in the last five years with the rise of PC extremism and cancel culture. Technically, it’s the opposite side, but it’s still pushing to judge people on gender and ethnicity. Maybe someday we’ll collectively realize that we’re all just people. That gets lost in the chaos of the extremes.

  7. Archon's Den says:

Thanx for stopping by and registering a choice. 🙂
It may have to do with the development of stronger opinions since but, 5 years ago, when I first posted this, no-one bothered to indicate a preference. 😳
