Debunking The Hitler Myth

A very common myth, especially among Christians, is that Adolf Hitler was an atheist. I can’t tell you how often I’ve seen something along the lines of, “Atheism leads to wickedness – just look at Hitler, Stalin, and Pol Pot!” Undeniably Pol Pot was a wicked atheist, although the evil things that he and Stalin did, were not because of, or in support of, Atheism, but Hitler said a great deal of things indicating his belief in a God. In fact, he apparently considered himself to be a Christian.

(As an aside – Stalin attended a Seminary.)   😛

Here are numerous things that Hitler said that indicate his religious belief, along with a citation. I read Mein Kampf, his “diary,” a while ago, and many of these quotes come from this book.

I had excellent opportunity to intoxicate myself with the solemn splendor of the brilliant church festivals. As was only natural, the abbot seemed to me, as the village priest had once seemed to my father, the highest and most desirable ideal.

Mein Kampf, Vol. 1, Ch. 1

I believe today that my conduct is in accordance with the will of the Almighty Creator.

Mein Kampf, Vol. 1, Ch. 2

Even today I am not ashamed to say that, overpowered by stormy enthusiasm, I fell down on my knees and thanked Heaven from an overflowing heart for granting me the good fortune of being permitted to live at this time.

Mein Kampf, Vol. 1, Ch. 5

What we have to fight for is the necessary security for the existence and increase of our race and people, the subsistence of its children and the maintenance of our racial stock unmixed, the freedom and independence of the Fatherland so that our people may be enabled to fulfill the mission assigned to it by the Creator.

Mein Kampf, Vol. 1, Ch. 8

In short, the results of miscegenation are always the following: (a) The level of the superior race becomes lowered; (b) physical and mental degeneration sets in, thus leading slowly but steadily toward a progressive drying up of the vital sap. The act which brings about such a development is a sin against the will of the Eternal Creator. And as a sin this act will be avenged.

Mein Kampf, Vol. 1, Ch. 11

Anyone who dares to lay hands on the highest image of the Lord commits sacrilege against the benevolent Creator of this miracle and contributes to the expulsion from paradise.

Mein Kampf, Vol. 2, Ch. 1

My feelings as a Christian point me to my Lord and Savior as a fighter. It points me to the man who once in loneliness, surrounded by a few followers, recognized these Jews for what they were and summoned men to fight against them and who, God’s truth! was greatest not as a sufferer but as a fighter. In boundless love as a Christian and as a man I read through the passage which tells us how the Lord at last rose in His might and seized the scourge to drive out of the Temple the brood of vipers and adders… Today, after two thousand years, with deepest emotion I recognize more profoundly than ever before the fact that it was for this that He had to shed his blood upon the Cross.

Speech on April 12, 1922

The advantages for the individual which may be derived from compromises with atheistic organizations do not compare in any way with the consequences which are visible in the destruction of our common religious and ethical values. The national Government sees in both Christian denominations the most important factor for the maintenance of our society.

Speech on March 23, 1933

I believe today that I am acting in the sense of the Almighty Creator. By warding off the Jews, I am fighting for the Lord’s work.

Speech before the Reichstag, 1936

Man cannot exist without belief in God.

From a conversation on November 4, 1936

I am now as before a Catholic and will always remain so.

To General Gerhard Engel, 1941

How could an Atheist say, “Today, after two thousand years, with deepest emotion I recognize more profoundly than ever before, the fact that it was for this that He had to shed his blood upon the Cross”? How could an Atheist openly criticize the moral degeneration that Christians feel Atheism brings upon a society? How could an Atheist say that belief in God is necessary for the very existence of humans? It should be more than clear that Adolf Hitler was, contrary to popular belief, not an Atheist.

A self-appointed Christian Apologist Gatekeeper quickly applied the No True Scotsman argument, and claimed that, despite what Hitler clearly said, he was not A True Christian.  He offered a quote from the Book of James, which had nothing whatsoever to do with being a ‘True Christian,’ something that didn’t even exist when the passage was written.

Good people do good things.  Bad people do bad things, but to get a good person to perform evil, requires religion.  Hitler’s theology was correct.  It was his secular application which was in error.  The Gatekeeper may not wish to admit Hitler into his exclusive little club, but Hitler was precisely what he claimed to be – a True Christian – a Good Catholic.  😯

  1. Good rundown. Christians (and religious people of other flavors) don’t use logic or evidence in forming their opinions, they just use blatant lies and propaganda. And as you noted, when faced with irrefutable facts, they either ignore it or make up another excuse. Reality is not their thing.

I recently heard one declare that the sun is not powered by nuclear fusion, “Because that would have run out long ago. Instead, it is a giant planet, covered with flames, the heat of which drives more hydrogen and oxygen out of the ground, to feed more flames.” 😳
More recently, another denied the existence of the space station as a conspiracy theory, “Because people can go scuba diving, underwater, but it’s impossible for humans to live in a vacuum.”
If this is the way they treat observable, provable facts, it’s no wonder they eat up the myths…. which are Greek moths. 😉 😆

      • Lol! I literally get texts when the space station will fly overhead and will be visible. I got one today. THAT is undeniable predictive power. It also absolutely demonstrates it is real.

Live in a vaccum? They don’t. They live in normal earth pressure in a tube.

Your buddy there might be right. If the sun ran on fusion it might have run out. But it runs on fission. The math works out just fine.

Also, WTF? Why does there have to be a planet in the middle? I assume they mean a rock planet? Turns out we can do spectrometer measurements on stars. Our sun has nothing that heavy.

I know you know all this, its just me laughing out loud at such a silly proposition.

A paradoxical aspect of Christian ideology is that everyone sins and that the only route to salvation is constant remorse and temporary repentance, a pretty sad state of affairs. Some of the founders, including Jefferson and perhaps Franklin, were self-proclaimed deists. I suspect that they intuitively knew that religion was essential to maintaining political cohesion in a nation-sized group of people. I think Hitler knew that too, and used it. So does Trump. I submit that there is no way to prove what another person really believes with respect to religion.

That’s a statement in a book, a claim – unproved, and apparently unprovable. Perhaps you can explain why you believe it. I find no reason to accept it. 😳

      • A book that Herr Hitler must have held some store in, otherwise why did he make the statements and claims you have quoted above?

“I find no reason to accept it.”

Of course not, and from the same Book:

Romans 8:7 (KJV) Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to The Law of God, neither indeed can be.

Really??! You want to hold Adolf Hitler up as the poster boy for the Bible??! 👿
Just because he -or anyone else – has faith in it, is no indication that it is true or valid. 😦
Continuing to provide quotes from a book that someone doesn’t believe, also does not make it true, or convince them to accept it. You failed to act on my suggestion that you provide justification for your acceptance of it. 🙄
Stop working so hard to prove Atheists wrong, and just provide evidence that Christians are right. (And please don’t make me have to explain the definition of evidence.) 😛

Did I say that, or are you just clutching at straws in order to build your strawman?

Hitler was raised a Roman Catholic by his mother who was a staunch believer in that faith. THAT is Hitler’s childhood background, so are you going to tell me that The Bible DID NOT feature in that upbringing?

Atheism (Bolshevism) is one on the biggest lying religious cults on Earth – 100% delusional. LOL

If you want proof of The Bible just look at The Creation, or are you going to parrot the fraud idiot Darwin, or the bigger idiot Dawkins.

Other than as a feel-good statement, attempting to prop up an unproven (and unprovable) religious opinion, I have no idea what you’re talking about, and it seems that you don’t either.
It in no way refutes the evidence that, contrary to many Christian claims that Hitler was an Atheist, instead, the most evil and destructive leader of the 20th century was a Catholic, a Good Christian who misused his theological beliefs to torture and murder millions of people who he felt were religiously unacceptable – Jews – supposedly-pagan gypsy Romanians. 😯

We could start with the Gestapo, and the SS, and doors being kicked in, in the middle of the night, people being dragged away, to be tortured and murdered, citizens desperately informing on their neighbors, vainly hoping to prevent the same thing happening to them.

      • And who told you all that guff? Looks like you’re heavily into victor’s history garbage. Some might call it Communist Jew lying propaganda.

Are you even aware that the Bolshevik Communist Jews declared declared Commercial and Financial war on Germany in 1933? (Sanctions are an act of war) And assassinated a German political envoy triggering Crystal Nacht which was stamped out immediately by Herr Hitler.

Here’s an example of what REALLY went on:

“We have had a good run for our money with this gas chamber story we have been putting about, but don’t we run the risk eventually we are going to be found out and when we are found out, the collapse of that lie is going to bring the whole of our psychological warfare down with it? So isn’t it rather time now to let it drift off by itself and concentrate on other lines that we are running.”

        — Victor Cavendish-Bentick, Head of British Psychological Warfare Executive (Propaganda), in a handwritten note, written on Aug 27th, 1943. Public Record Office Document F0371/34551 revealed by Stephen Mitford Goodson, “Inside the South African Reserve Bank”.

Let me know if you would like further education for I have plenty more to share.
