SHIVER ME TIMBERS
Drifting and dreaming, neither completely asleep nor fully awake, softly, gently, wafting upward towards consciousness, like a child’s toy balloon. No blaring alarms, no beeping cellphones, shall I awaken? What must I do today??
After half a century of faithful service to often unfaithful employers, I serve no man. Master of my own fate, except for She Who Must Be Obeyed, Captain of my own ship, I chart my own course. I eat when I am hungry, and sleep when I am tired. I hear the siren call to compose another blog post. Avast and ahoy my fellow Friday Fictioneers.

Prophetic. It’s like looking in the mirror. Every word. Minus the part about commenting on Archon’s rumble in the middle of the night.
However, I confess to being the lessor word person. 🙂

Gee, thanx! I knew you were gonna say that, because it’s prophetic. 😉 😀

I haven’t been able to get my retired husband to acknowledge my She Who Must be Obeyed status yet. But I’m working on it. ….

Keep working if you like. It might be too late. You can’t teach an old (sea) dog new tricks. Arf, arf! 😉

There’s nothing like that feeling of being able to wake up when your body tells you to, instead of an alarm clock. The joys of retirement. I enjoyed the drifting along feeling in this.

Such a fun title and a stream of consciousness that is too pleasant to be anything other than non-fiction. Thanks for the respite of a chronicle of a happy retiree.

For some folks, work is their life. 😳 For the rest of us, employment is like beating your head against a wall. It feels so good when you stop. 😉 🙂

I hope it feels good when it finally happens. It certainly did for me. 😀 😀

I retired shortly after I was 72. I was afraid I’d be bored.
Nope. Not even a little. I love getting up whenever I decide to get up after 72 years of getting up on other people’s schedules 🙂 I’m not usually a late sleeper, but if I want to, I will!
