PARIS WHEN IT SIZZLES
I have the best anti-car-theft system. I bought the world’s ugliest car. Guys with BMWs won’t even park on the same block, lest parts fall off and hit their cars.
I combat Global Warming by installing an electric engine, but I can’t find an extension cord long enough to get to work, and out-of-town trips are impossible.
I ran it on flashlight batteries for a while, but cleaned out local suppliers. Plus, there was the detour going home, to drop dead ones at the recycle center.
I added a Honda gasoline generator to charge the batteries. Now it’s an eco-hybrid.

If you’d like to join in on the Friday Fictioneers fun, just go to Rochelle’s Addicted to Purple site, and use her Wednesday photo as a prompt to write a complete 100-word story.
Ah, the challenges of going green!

Dear Archon,
This is hilarious. I have a millenial anti-theft device in my car. It’s called stick shift.
Shalom,
Rochelle

I’d love to have that Deux Chaveaux in the photo. Both my wife and I drove theft-proof cars – me. a rusted out 1973 Vega, her a ’78 Pinto with a stick. Both cars together weren’t worth a cup of water, but I loved my Vega and learned a lot taking her Pinto apart and putting it back together.
I am proud to have the greenest way to commute. I stay at home and keep warm during the winter by burning wood. See? Zero emissions from fossil fuels. 😉 😀

I was amazed at the coincidence. I hadn’t seen one in years, yet only Wednesday, I saw a mustard-yellow one, gassing up at the Costco in Waterloo, Ontario. Then I came home to find Mr. Green-Jeans as a prompt in Rochelle’s story. 😀

Sounds like a real hassle. If nations would fully invest in sustainable energy practices it would be a different story. Difficult to go against the grain of society.

Modifying an entire society’s behavior is a slow, difficult process. We’re almost completely successful with smoking. Drunk driving is not far behind. Acceptance of colored people is ahead of acceptance of LGBTQ. I just hope that we have enough time to turn the elephant of Climate Change. 😳

Well-said, Archon! The good (it happens) and the bad (excruciatingly slowly) of societal change. We don’t seem to have any trouble zooming (pun intended) through technological advances but our reptilian brains can’t adjust accordingly.

Fun story. Well done. I’m not ready for the gas-less cars (since dealing with one now). As for the elephant in the room, good luck with that.
